Encouraged, Nerf has made Rival one of its main lineups for foam blasters. Both have had a warm reception in the Nerf community. In late 2015, Nerf released Apollo (a spring action blaster) and Zeus (a Flywheel blaster). In a bold move, Nerf has named the blasters in this series after the Greek gods themselves, showing off their confidence in this line-up.
Accuracy is high, with very close grouping, meaning each foam ball deviates very less from the ideal path and you can actually aim long distance. But the actual total range is pretty close to that of Elite darts, because of the air resistance acting on the less streamlined foam ball. The series has both Spring Action blasters and flywheel blasters both delivering a great performance with muzzle speeds reaching up to 100 fps! At close quarters these guns are a beast. They shoot what Nerf calls ‘High impact rounds’. This ammo is basically foam balls that have dimples all over their surface just like a golf ball. The blasters are considerably more powerful than even the Elite series, hence the higher age requirement. The blasters in this series are recommended for teens above 14 years. It features spherical foam ammo and appealing mature paint jobs in comparison with other Nerf series. It is not recommended as a primary blaster.Blasters in this lineup are geared toward teens and young adults.
However, it does not have slamfire and, due to the frequency of misfires and short fires. This blaster is an excellent choice for anyone looking to increase the number of rounds per magazine to the Apollo 7 or the Atlas. This can cause problems when you are engaged in battle, and you need to quickly unload your opponent. The Hypnos’s inability to fire quickly enough or misfiring was its biggest problem. NERF RIVAL HYPNOS BLASTER UPGRADE
This blaster is a great upgrade to the Apollo. The Hypnos can also be used with the Apollo mag which is shorter, making it possible to get a few more shots if your other 12 round magazines have been exhausted. Two clips attach to the tactical rail hold the magazine for quick and easy reloading. Pull down on the mag release on the back left of the blaster to release the magazine. Simply snap the magazine into place to load. The priming indicator is located in the shell’s side. To prime just grip the handle and pull back. The priming handle is located underneath the muzzle. This means that you cannot attach a barrel extension.Ībove the muzzle is a tactical rail, and there is also a second rail on the right side of the blaster. The Hypnos blaster’s front has no N-Strike attachment points like a Rival blaster. Simply pull the stock back and snap it into place to unlock the stock. The stock will swivel to the right side and lock into place. To unfold the stock, simply press the orange button located on the left side of the stock.
The stock doesnt interfere with the ergonomics of the blaster when folded it is a pretty darn nice addition! This makes it a good length for locking into place, and compacts the blaster when it is stored. It is large and easy to hold, but smaller people shouldn’t have any problems using it. The grip of the Hypnos is the same as all Rival blasters.
